Don the eel man
Hello
Today we just had a visit from a eel scientist. We learned so much he worked for a place called NIWA. I learnt a lot of things. Here's some of the stuff I've been learning.
*Eels used to live in sea
*The eels are starting to do their journey to Tonga right now as it is Autumn.
*Australia's long eel has dots on it
*They pump water through their gills
*Eels eat birds and ducklings
*Eels go overland at night
*They absorb oxygen through their skin
*Eels don't like dirty water
*Eels go out of water to get food
*If they eat a crab, they get a red bottom from pooping out the legs!!
*They like pipes, logs and weeds to hide in and to live.
*The ear bone is used to see how old they are
*Eels don't like sunlight
*They suck in their prey to eat it. to
*Eels teeth are backwards
*Females breed in Tonga
*Female eels leave New Zealand to go to Tonga before male
